And this is a problem that many compact sedans face today. For them, the updated ILX is an affordable alternative to premium models such as the Audi A3 or the new Mercedes-Benz A-Class. Yes, the ILX only has a naturally aspirated 2.4 "four" against the 2-liter turbo engines of its closest competitors, but it is a very capable engine with a return of 204 horsepower and 244 Nm. In addition, the Acura unit with the VTEC system outperforms the German turbo-fours at high revs. Of course, the motor is quite noisy in this mode, but what emotions! Like the engine, the eight-speed dual-clutch robot went to the refurbisher from the pre-reform ILX sedan. Yes, this is not a new box, but DCT is still very good. And especially in manual mode, if you click the steps with the paddle shifters. With active driving, upshifts occur very quickly, as well as downshifting several gears. The transmission in all modes knows which stage and when to tuck. And it is also quite good on winding paths, as we managed to see on part of our route, including through the Ohio farms. But it was not possible to fully assess the characteristics of the suspension due to the fact that the area with poor coverage was too short. In general, the ILX proved to be quite comfortable both on small, almost imperceptible irregularities, and on larger pits. Based on the impressions received, it can be argued that the ILX behaves better on undulating asphalt than the new Mercedes-Benz A-Class. At the same time, Acura is easily controlled due to a well-tuned steering mechanism and minimal roll, although the driver still lacks feedback. And this is not the only complaint. It is quite difficult for the driver to adjust the seat to achieve an optimal fit. The seats themselves in the ILX are comfortable, but the adjustment ranges are very limited. Because of this, the forward view is in many ways inferior to, for example, the recently tested Volkswagen Golf. The ILX also comes with the same dual-screen media as the larger TLX by default. But unlike the latter, the compact sedan's touchscreen display is less responsive and less user-friendly. And it doesn't look so good, even with the updated graphics. Yes, this is not a new box, but DCT is still very good.
